Come on In, The Water's Fine
|
State of The Website Address! I feel obligated to let you know why I "suddenly" bailed on my job, friends, website, and everything else. I've received email chastising me for splitting so abruptly. But it was something I'd intended to do for a long time. Long-time readers know that I had a problem with a demented stalker for the better part of 3 years. I'd tried every recourse, both legal and "illegal", to put a stop to it. It wasn't happening. Frankly, I'd grown tired of having to look over my shoulder every time I went to get lunch. I grew tired of deleting countless voicemails, storing countless letters for evidence, and receiving litle support. I'm not a dramatic person, so living in a dramatic situation just wasn't fun. Coupled with some other issues that really needn't be mentioned here, and it became obvious that a change was long overdue. So with luck, discipline, a plan that had been in effect for many years, and the generosity of some family members, I was given a chance to split. I took it. So here I am, in a new home with new challenges. First, radio here sucks! I'm gonna have to work on that. Second, there's really no music scene to speak of. But then again, in Sacramento, there wasn't a whole lot of 80s metal when I first moved there either. A little time on my hands and a few connections later, and Sacramento is a must-stop for any touring band. And I still get email about the 80s Metal Preservation Society. So where am I now? Well, I'm not where you probably think I am... But you'll see me as long as Def Leppard still tours, as long as Tesla still makes great records, and as long as Gene Simmons dips his hands into your pockets. Like a KISS farewell tour, this website isn't ending anytime soon. As long as there's one person out there who can still appreciate the days when women were women (and so were the men), I'll always be here, preaching the gospel of 80s metal, and tempering it with a healthy dose of tropical lightheartedness. The endless plugs for Chicks Who Rock will continue. Hell, you can listen online now - I'll still be around for that. I'll never forget all of the great shows I was lucky enough to see at the Roadhouse, and already miss all of the incredibly cool people who've passed through their doors. Sacramento - thanks for 8 years of hospitality and memories, and I hope you'll continue to support good music! But as for me, it's time to spread the love and bring the music back again to another part of the world in desperate need of some ass-kickin' rock n roll. I hope you'll continue to join me on my quest to ensure that the musical contributions of the 80s metal scene are never forgotten. Thanks, and see you back online again real soon! -Famous James, the King of 80s Metal. |
